The effects of illegitimate tasks on employee silence and voice behavior: moderated mediation model

PurposeBased on conservation of resources (COR) theory, this study aims to examine the impact of daily illegitimate tasks on employees' daily silence and daily voice behavior, as well as the mediating role of daily ego depletion and the moderating role of trait mindfulness.Design/methodology/approachThrough daily diary approach, 81 employees were followed for 10 consecutive workdays. Multilevel analysis was employed to examine the hypothesized relationships.FindingsThe results showed that daily illegitimate tasks are positively related to daily silence behavior and negatively related to daily voice behavior; daily ego depletion plays a mediating role in these relationships. Trait mindfulness moderates the effect of daily illegitimate tasks on daily ego depletion and the indirect effect of daily illegitimate tasks on daily silence and daily voice.Practical implicationsManagers should be mindful of minimizing the assignment of illegitimate tasks. Additionally, it is recommended that the organization provide training courses for employees to help them reduce ego depletion. Finally, organizations should focus on fostering high levels of mindfulness among their employees.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the existing literature by investigating the immediate impact of illegitimate tasks on employee voice and silence at within-person level. By doing so, it enhances comprehension of the consequences associated with illegitimate tasks. Meanwhile, this study offers additional insights into the underlying mechanisms and boundary conditions of the effect of illegitimate tasks from a resource perspective.

Analysis of the organizational knowledge management system of nurse education centers with hybrid Fuzzy DEMATEL-network DEA method

On-the-job training is important for the growth of organizational human capital. The present paper evaluates the efficiency of on-the-job training using the DEA model and knowledge management system to illustrate the interactions of organizational knowledge management concepts for measuring the efficiency of on-the-job training courses for employees within the organizational knowledge management systems. In this research, the DEA method was used to evaluate the efficiency of knowledge management system and analyze the interdependencies of the system. Also, the EU Knowledge and Innovation Management Measurement and the Kirkpatrick models were employed to identify the indicators. This study was conducted on 27 education centers in Iran. The results of evaluating the effectiveness of the knowledge management system show that the factor of “educational resources and facilities” is the most affecting variable and the most affected variable is “educational effectiveness”. Then, based on the DEA method, the weights of the sub-factors of the model were determined, and the efficiency of each step and as a result the efficiency of the whole system was obtained. Inefficient units were discarded and finally the efficient units were ranked. This study can help the organizations to identify the factors affecting the effectiveness of knowledge management programs.

Impact of Psychological Capital and Emotional Intelligence on the Job Performance; Reference to Higher Education Institutes in Sri Lanka

Psychological capital and emotional intelligence have been identified as a new approach to increase employee performance despite the fact that there are various factors that lead to the performance of the academic staff, which fulfills a very high national mission by producing educated and intelligent young generations who need to develop to protect the future of the country. Later, researchers found that it can change the way employees feel about their jobs. So, the researcher decided to investigate the impact of psychological capital and emotional intelligence on job performance in higher education institutions in Sri Lanka as this aspect has not been examined in the Sri Lankan context. The question investigated in this study is the effect of psychological capital and emotional intelligence on job performance in higher education institutions in Sri Lanka. It is the primary objective of this study. As a specific objectives of the study were developed on the four variables of the Psychological Capital and four variable of emotional intelligence construct. In summary, the researcher found that there is a positive effect of psychological capital and emotional intelligence on job performance. Finally, the study gives some recommendations for improving job performance by increasing psychological capital and emotional intelligence. Although psychological capital is a novel idea for many Vietnamese managers, they see it as a resource that can assist people improve their job performance (NGO, 2021). Understanding psychological capital, developing a questionnaire to measure its level based on work characteristics, business industries, conducting annual evaluations, and convening short-term psychological training courses for employees are some managerial initiatives. Furthermore, in order to improve employees’ job performance, managers should implement two-way internal communication activities that successfully match employees’ requirements, work goals, and assigned tasks at the personal level. Employee selection and promotion decisions can benefit from psychological capital and emotional intelligence. That is, management should prioritize self-efficacy, power contracts, and high levels of self-efficacy among those who can pay. Assist these employees in performing effectively in the workplace, they will be less likely to participate in risky behavior. During the hiring/promotion process, a psychological development status assessment might be conducted.

Evaluation of the Emergency Management Conditions Program in HSE-MS: A Case Study on a Car Dashboard Manufacturing Company (Rasti Kar Alborz)

Introduction: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between emergency management in the field of HSE_MS in Rastikar Alborz Dashboard Company in Qazvin province.
 Method: This was a descriptive study conducted with a survey approach. It was applied, in terms of purpose, and correlational, in terms of method of implementation. The statistical population of the study consisted of employees working in Rastikar Alborz Company. Based on the Chris-Morgan table, 169 people were selected as a statistical sample of the study using the relative class sampling method. In order to collect data, demographic characteristics questionnaires, researcher-made questionnaires on emergency management and safety, health and environmental management (HSE _ MS) were used. Then, they were validated by professors. Confirmation and reliability of the questionnaires were estimated to be 0.90 and 0.85, respectively, through Cronbach's alpha. Descriptive statistics (dispersion indices) and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation, linear regression) were used to analyze the data by SPSS18 software.
 Results: The results of the study indicated that there was a positive and significant relationship between the components of employees' level of perception of emergency management and management (HSE _ MS) {r: 0.19 and p /0 0.001}. The coefficient of regression was also equal to 0.44.
 Conclusion: Based on this result, the ability to predict and explain the dimensions of management (HSE _ MS) for the emergency management component is moderate, and the dimensions of management (HSE _ MS) were above average. Due to the importance of emergency management in the company and the significant role of safety, health and environmental management in this field, the authors recommend that programs such as training courses for employees be provided.

The extent of Commitment of companies to Apply the International Financial Reporting Standard IFRS 15 - Revenues from Customers Contracts and Its Reflection on The Decisions of Users of Financial Reports - An exploratory - Analytical study of the opinions of a sample of employees in companies in the Kurdistan Region / Iraq (Erbil Governorate as a model)

This study aims to investigate the extent of companies’ commitments in the Kurdistan region of Iraq to apply IFRS 15- Revenues from contracts with customers; and study the impact of applying it on decisions of financial reports users. The study has used a descriptive approach for the theoretical part, an inductive approach for an applied part. A questionnaire has been used for data collection which was designed for achieving the study’s aims and the testing study hypothesizes. For analysing results and testing hypotheses, the data has been run by SPSS and Easy Fit. The study concluded the followings: the sample of the study agreed that companies must commit to applying the IFRS 15; there is a reflection of IFRS15 on decisions of financial reports users; the financial statement that prepared under the provision of IFES 15 play a significant role in protecting the investors, as the standard aims at presenting the realistic financial position of the companies, thus rational decisions could be made. The key conclusions of the study are the following: International financial reporting standards IFRS must be applied as soon as possible, including International Financial Reporting Standard IFRS 15 "Revenues resulting from contracts with customers". The study recommends: related parties, authorities of Kurdistan Region must start to open training courses for employees of companies in Kurdistan Region about the application of this standard; increase level of awareness of investors, company management, and auditing (public accountant) about the importance of IFRS 15 through workshops, training courses and scientific seminars; consulting experts of accounting for developing the efficiency of financial reporters in the light of international accounting standards. Attention paid to teaching International Financial Reporting Standards, especially International Financial Reporting Standard IFRS 15 related to the recognition of “revenue arising from contracts with customers” should be taught in accounting departments of universities in the Kurdistan Region / Iraq. Preferred Learning Styles of Nurses in In-Service Training Courses in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences

Summary Generally, progress, productivity and success of any organization depends on the skills and knowledge of their manpower. Thus, better and more accurate training programs in organizations will lead to their growth and efficiency will be eventually achieved. Due to the many advances in the field of medicine, nurses are the backbone of activities in organizations of medical sciences and patient’s affairs. For this purpose, in-service training courses for employees are the most important courses in nursing. This study was conducted at the University of Medical Sciences (Tabriz-Iran) aiming to determine the preferred learning styles of nurses in in-service training courses. In this cross-sectional study, all nurses working in medical and educational centers in a university in the North West of Iran were randomly selected. To collect data, a two-part questionnaire of Kolb’s demographic and social information was used. Data was analyzed by using descriptive and analytical statistics SPSS version 17 software. A total of 470 nurses with an average age of 36.46 ± 5.77 were studied. There was a significant correlation between preferred learning styles of nurses with nursing position, employment status, and income level. There was no a significant statistical relationship between the preferred learning style of nurses with age, work experience and experience in the center. The present study shows that the highest percentage of Kolb’s learning style is related to the preferential converging learning style (57.8%). This study aimed to determine the preferred learning styles of nurse’s in-service training courses in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. The results of the study showed that converging and assimilating styles were the preferred learning ones among the majority of nurses; these styles are effective and interpreted according to their profession requiring a lot of information and knowledge. Due to the dominance of converging learning style among nurses, it is recommended to use appropriate teaching methods tailored to the style including the use of diagrams, presentations, lectures and self-learning with enjoyable materials.

Validation of A Tool to Measure Occupational Safety and Health Performance of Employees

According to the International Labor Organization’s estimates of 2017, 160 million people in the world are suffering from work-related illnesses, and that 270 million work-related accidents occur every year across the world. Industries in Arab nations have some room for improvement in the implementation of occupational safety and health measures and inefficiency related to occupational safety and health. This study reviewsmost of the relevant literature in the application of occupational safety and health systems in improving employees’ performance. The study recommended several recommendations that would help in the implementation of occupational safety and health systems and improve the performance of employees in companies, such as providing of training courses for employees; establishing a specialized department for occupational safety and health; providing specialized supervisors to follow the occupational safety and health procedures within the company; providing a safe, stimulating and risk-free work environment; and adopting occupational safety and health regulations within international and local standards.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS AND THE EFFECTIVENESS OF E-BANKING TRAINING COURSES BASED ON KIRKPATRICK MODEL FOR EMPLOYEES OF MASKAN BANK BRANCHES IN TEHRAN, IRAN

This study was carried out aimed to measure the Relationship between demographic characteristics and the effectiveness of e-banking training courses for employees of Maskan Bank Branches in Tehran province. The research method in terms of objective is considered as an applied research and information collection method is descriptive-survey. The statistical population of this research includes all employees of Maskan Bank Branches in Tehran Province who have participated in e-banking courses and have a population of about 1100 people. The statistical population of this study includes all employees of Maskan Bank Branches in Tehran Province who have participated in e-banking training courses and have a population of about 1100 people. 285 people were selected using Morgan table and by simple random sampling method. The tool measurement used was questionnaire based on the Kirkpatrick model in four levels of reaction, learning, behavior and results, which its reliability was calculated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, 0.89 and it was confirmed. Descriptive and inferential statistical methods (one-way t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient) were used in order to analyze the obtained data. According to the results of t-test, e-banking training courses were effective for employees of Maskan Bank Branches in Tehran province. Also, the analysis of demographic findings based on the results of the one-way between-subjects ANOVA showed that employees' attitudes at different positions, work experience or education level were not significantly different towards the factors affecting the effectiveness of e-banking training courses and none of them should be omitted from e-banking courses.

Impact of Communication and Information on the Internal Control Environment in Palestinian Universities

The study aims to identify the impact of information and communication on the internal control environment, empirical study on the Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip, where the researchers dealt with five universities to see the impact of communication and information on internal control environment in these universities. The researchers adopted in his study descriptive and analytical approach. The study population consists of employees with administrative functions, either administrative or academic, with the exception of those in senior management or the University Council. The study population was (392) employees. A stratified random sample was chosen. (197) questionnaires were distributed and the number of questionnaires recovered was (160) questionnaires with a recovery rate of (81.2%), the researchers used a questionnaire to collect the data. The collected data were processed using (SPSS) to get the results. The study found the following results: the existence of shortcomings in the administrative communication in generall within the universities and therefore this shortcoming will reflect on the entire regulatory process especially that the communication process represents a significant part of everyday business. There exist a significant relationship between information and communication from one side and the internal control environment from the other side. The lack of significant difference between the responses of the respondents attributed to the variable (gender, age, and years of service). The existence of a fundamental difference between the responses of the respondents attributed to the variable (university, educational qualification, the administrative level). The study found a set of recommendations including the importance of updating systems and instructions of control periodically and parallel with the wheel of technology and scientific progress. The emphasis on administrative leaders to be a positive role model and set an example for employees in all business functions. Benefit from regional and international experiences in the application of control standards commensurate with the administrative system of the institution. The need to hold training courses for employees in the universities. Raise awareness of the importance of the control process and its benefits.

The study recommended several recommendationsthat would help in the implementation of occupational safety and health systems and improve the performance of employees incompanies, such as providing of training courses for employees; establishing a specialized department for occupational safety andhealth; providing specialized supervisors to follow the occupational safety and health procedures within the company; providing asafe, stimulating and risk-free work environment; adopting occupational safety and health regulations within international andlocal standards.

THE ROLE OF CIVIL SOCIETIES IN SATISFYING SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC NEEDS OF THE DIVORCED AND WIDOWED WOMEN

One of the most important fields that civil societies are concerning with is the field of developing woman in general, and the divorced or widowed woman in particular, particularly, those are working in multiple fields such as the empowerment field. This means that woman should be provided with training, habilitation, and work opportunities. The second field is the rights defensive field that assesses the lawful literacy of rights, duties, and defense for marginalized woman. The third field is the traditional field which is responsible for introducing services of social care and welfare. This research aims to identify the role of civil societies in satisfying the social and economic needs of widows. The study was applied on a sample of (40) widows and divorced women in al Qalubia governorate who benefit from social insurance in both rural and urban areas. The study came to the following conclusions:   Widows and divorced women in rural and urban areas, have social and economic needs. Civil societies play a role in satisfying the social and economic needs of widows and divorced women The majority of the participants are not satisfied with the services pervaded by the civil societies. There are obstacles that limit the role of civil societies in helping widows and divorced women.  Widows in rural as well as urban areas are in need to social services represented in educational, health, social relations needs; while the economic needs are embodied in having a fixed stable income and the materialistic and concrete aids, in addition to small enterprises. Researchers have set a group of suggestions and recommendations that can improve the role of civil societies to satisfy the benefitted categories, particularly, the widows and divorced women. The study suggests including the technology system in civil societies, improving as well the mechanisms of these associations through holding training courses for employees, improving presented service and activities through making scientific researches to identify the actual needs of the benefitted categories.

Review the Literature and Theories on Anti-Money Laundering

This paper reports works on money laundering and economic theories on anti-money laundering. We recommend further technical studies on financial reports and technological system pertaining to anti-money laundering. This study also recommend that banks and other financial institutions adhere to global patterns by identifying suspicious transactions to the financial intelligence unit. Training courses for employees could enhance the implementation of select regulations.

Attitudes of Customers towards Islamic Banks in Kuwait

<p>The purpose of this study is to examine the main factors that motivate customers to deal with Islamic banks (IBs) in State of Kuwait and explore items needed by customers to develop IBs services to improve their market position. To achieve these objectives, a self-administered questionnaire distributed among sample of IBs customers from different provinces in Kuwait.</p><p>The findings of the analysis showed that customers think that the most important items are the quality of service and low service charges offered by the bank. Moreover, the customers think that the bank mass media is the least important item. The questionnaire also asked customers what IBs need to do in order to develop their services and improve their market position. The participants attached a highest level of importance is to increase the training courses for employees to reach comprehensive employee for non-banking activities and develop practical Islamic mortgages.</p>The main contribution of current study is that it is difficult to IBs to attract customers by the religion motive only; they need to meet the expectations of prospective customer by delivering better and wide range of services and products.

Training for the UK tour operating industry: advancing current practice

At a time when important changes are being initiated in the provision of training courses for employees in the UK tourism industry, responses in questionnaires and interviews from leading tour operators concerning the value of current syllabuses offered by the various academic bodies would suggest that, whereas externally set schemes of study have many merits, they tend to be of a generalized nature and are not always relevant to the context of specific tour operations. Accordingly, it is contended that in-house training is likely to be more beneficial in meeting the needs of employers and recommendations are made with respect to important principles which, it is argued, should guide the construction of any such programme.
